So pre-season testing pace was genuine and as soon as that diffuser was declared legal you knew a Brawn was gonna be on pole.
It would be unfair to say that they pissed over everyone - but the Brawn really is the class act in the field.
Going to be interesting to see the British media dump Lewis and treat him like **** and adopt Button as their new hero! Why is that the British love to knock someone more than any other nation? Lewis did not take part in Q2 due to a "problem with the rear of the car" - that will be a shagged gearbox/driveshaft etc then..
And Branson - what can you say? That opportunistic man - or "lucky bastard" as he proclaimed to a live BBC Audience. Virgin - probably the recipient of more sponsorship proposals to get involved with motor racing than you can possibly imagine - does a deal with Brawn on the eve of the GP. Branson then gets on live TV to talk about his deal - which was probably cut price anyway! - Branson is a lucky guy and sharp operator - no question.
Spare a thought for Mclaren - how are they feeling with a budget sufficient to go the moon - seeing the Mercedes engine first and second in the Brawn?
Finally think of Honda...they see the car they invested in last year - 1st and 2nd. Do you really think they would have still pulled out knowing this? Well yes actually - because that Merc lump in the back probably is on a different orbit to the Honda boat anchor that was previously there. As an enthusiastic Honda Fireblade owner - I find it baffling that their F1 engine was so uncompetitive - whilst as the owner of Merc estate - I also understand what reliable power is as well...
