ART names Ferigutti

for Asian Formula Renault Championship

Asia Racing Team (ART Motorsports) has snapped up Luca Ferigutti for its upcoming Asian Formula Renault Championship campaign.Ferigutti becomes the first ART driver to confirm his plans for 2009 season. The 2008 AKOC Rotax Max Champion has Italian/Swiss dual nationality and he lives in Hong Kong, and will race under Hong Kong flag.

The 29 years old kartist tested for the first time a Formula Renault 2.0 in the beginning of last year but his single seater first race just came true in the March’s Pan Delta Super Racing Festival at Zhuhai International Circuit. Due to the lack of experience the MagicGoal sponsored driver couldn’t show his true potential but Ferigutti is confident to deliver a better performance once the season starts.

Commenting about his first season in single seaters, Ferigutti said

“I am obviously pleased to join ART. That’s a very professional outfit with a lot of experience in the car. For this first year my target is to acquire as much experience as possible and gradually being able to progress throughout the season. I am looking forward to getting started, taking the plunge and doing my best. 2009 is going to be tough, because there are so many new things for me to learn. I am conscious that I will need to work hard to be competitive but with the team’s support and a good preparation I am convinced that we will be able to achieve good results. My last words go to my sponsor Magic Goal. I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Miguel Gil which the full support allowed me to do what I like the most, racing!"

Speaking about his newest signing, Team Manager Philippe Descombes added

“We are delighted to have Luca with us this season, in testing he has been consistently quick and has built a great rapport with the team. It will be his very first season in single seaters and there are a lot of things he needs to learn. I am sure toward the end of the season we will see himprogressively at the front”.

The first two rounds of the 2009 Asian Formula Renault Championship will take place during the weekend 23 / 24 of May at the Shanghai International Circuit in China.
