ROCKINGHAM BACKS WILLIAM BULLER FOR 2009 SEASON
THE new 2009 Formula BMW Europe season gets underway when it supports the European Grand Prix in Barcelona this weekend (May 9/10) and Northamptonshire-based William Buller will be on the starting grid.
As part of its programme to help develop the foundations of British motorsport, Rockingham is delighted to announce its continued support and has pledged to back the rising stars of the future.
The Northamptonshire circuit will be working with the Buller racing camp to help nurture the driving talents of the Northern Irish teenager, as he starts his second Formula BMW Europe campaign with Daventry-based Fortec Motorsport
The partnership between Rockingham and William is a natural progression in the circuit’s relationship with the 16-year-old, whom they have supported since his early career.
Rockingham Director Charlotte Orton, said: “William is developing into one of the UK’s most promising young racing drivers and we are delighted to be supporting him as he prepares for a new campaign.
“William already has tremendous support from the Rockingham team due to his links with the circuit. We have developed a strong relationship with Fortec Motorsport through its Racing Steps Foundation, so this was a natural step.”
After moving up to single-seater racing in 2008, William set three fastest times and was the best placed British driver on his way to a 12th place finish in his maiden Formula BMW Europe season.
Formula BMW Europe is one of the most competitive amateur championships in motorsport, and William is looking forward to challenging some of the best young drivers on the European circuit.
Preparations for the new season got underway for William in January, when he took part in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, where he won two of the nine races to finish fourth overall.
William started his career racing stock cars and go-karts at National level. He won both the European and British Championships in National Class Stock Cars before moving to T-Cars in 2008, where he finished second in his first season.
