Lynch to appear at European Rallycross opener
Tony Lynch will return to the scene of his first win of the 2011 season this weekend when he takes part in a non-championship Suzuki Swift race during the opening event of the European Rallycross Championship season at Lydden Hill.Lynch, who leads the Suzuki Swift standings following his victory in the first round of the British Rallycross season, is amongst the drivers who will represent the Suzuki series after it was invited to appear at the event, and will hope to repeat the kind of form he displayed when winning at Lydden Hill last month. While championship points aren’t on offer in this weekend’s event, the opportunity to compete on the European Rallycross bill in front of a bumper crowd was too much to miss, with Tony set to use the event to get extra time behind the wheel of his Team Geriatric-run car ahead of the second British championship round of the year at Blyton next month.“I’m pleased to be able to take part in this weekend’s event, and it will be a fantastic opportunity for both myself and the other Suzuki drivers to race on the European Rallycross bill,” Tony said. “It’s also a great opportunity to represent our sponsors in front of a large crowd, and one that we just couldn’t turn down.“There is a large gap between the first and second round of our own season, so Lydden is a good chance to keep my eye in behind the wheel and even though we aren’t racing for points, I’ll still be pushing hard to win.“We’ve got one victory at Lydden Hill already this season and if we could get another this weekend, it would be the perfect way to prepare for the Blyton night race next month.”Action at Lydden Hill will take place on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday (24/25 April)
