Elisabete Jacinto is only five minutes away from the BMW which is the car in 5th place ...
... and ever so near to winning the World Cup again
Elisabete Jacinto, with her teammates, the Belgian Charly Gotlib and the Portuguese Marco Cochinho, obtained another victory in the Tunisian Rally, third competition for the Cross-Country World Cup. Driving the MAN TGS from Team Oleoban / MAN Portugal, the Portuguese driver spent 2h30m19s to run the 219 kilometres of the streak between Ksar Ghilane and Res El Oud, 1h16m38s less than the runner-up truck. The result is even more expressive when compared with that of cars, since Elisabete finished with only five minutes more than the drivers in 5th and 6th places, who count with extremely fast BMW X3 CC.
“The streak was completely different from yesterday’s special, the tracks were always fast, and all went very well for us. Only at the end, in a mountain area, had we to moderate our speed, but I am very happy with what we did”, stresses Elisabete Jacinto.
Friday's stage, with a special of more than 300 kilometres, will be run at very different rhythms, from very slow (mountain tracks with ravines, dinettes) to very fast (wide tracks on flat ground), between rock and sand. The organization of the rally warns that it is still possible that anything may occur in classifications: navigation, traps and suspense.
