'I'm sending this out on behalf of one of my good friends Mark Hucklebridge and his wife Emma. Mark is only 32 and has been diagnosed with stage four Bowel Cancer and secondary Lung Cancer, his lovely wife Emma will be completing a 21-mile walk to raise money for Mark this Saturday the 21st May.' - Carly Rathmell
Emma has set up a Just Giving site - www.justgiving.com/emma-hucklebridge, I hope you might be able to help her reach £3000 this week Emma's story is below.....
"After being a professional sportsman (top British Motocross Rider) for over 10 years Mark retired from racing at the end of 2008 to start our own business. We are blessed to have a cheeky little boy, Charlie who is now three and a half.
In November 2010 our world stopped as we were told that Mark has stage four Bowel Cancer and secondary Lung Cancer. He started three months of Chemo just before Christmas. This will be one to look back on I am sure as I also suffered with Swine Flu on Christmas Eve and Charlie had a cold, living in three different houses and coming together for an hour on Christmas morning was not ideal but I am sure we will look back with a smile on our faces thinking of Mark opening pressies with Charlie with a face mask on so he did not catch any infection.
With the Chemo finished Mark is now in his last two weeks of Radiotherapy which he has every day at the RUH (Hospital) in Bath. He is then looking forward to a break of about 6 weeks until he is rescanned and we see how well his body is reacting to the treatment.
He will have a major operation in June so any messages on Face Book or text jokes are greatly received to keep the spirits up. Then finally a further three months of Chemo followed by a second operation.
Hopefully by the end of the year this ordeal will be behind us and we look forward to starting 2012 with a revived spring in our step.
I have decided to do this 21 mile walk to raise some well needed money for the RUH (Hospital) in Bath where Mark is receiving some of his treatment. This is also where Charlie was born and I was treated with swine flu.
