More precious points for DAMS

After winning the drivers' title on Saturday, Romain Grosjean again scored precious points for DAMS in view of the teams' championship in the sprint race on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

For once the roller-coaster in the Belgian Ardennes was bathed in bright sunlight this Sunday morning. The race was pretty hectic with many and varied overtaking manoeuvres! Grosjean started from sixth place on the grid and gained one place, then two before falling back two positions, and then fighting his way back to fourth on the final lap. Another time round and he would have snatched the last place on the podium from Josef Kral.

Pal Varhaug was touch by Giedo van der Garde under braking for the first corner. This forced him to go wide at La Source, and several of his rivals took advantage of this to nip past the Norwegian. He was unable to made headway in the pack as his car's handling was probably upset in the incident and saw the flag in eighteenth place.

Loïc David, General Manager: "It was a fairly hectic race! Overall, it's a good result as we're now only eight points behind the leader in the teams' classification. DAMS again did a good job and Romain drove an intelligent race. We still have another target to achieve at Monza."

Romain Grosjean: 4th "I'm happy to have added more points to the team's tally. I had a good race this morning, but we have to continue finishing in the points to move up to the front in the teams' classification. I'll do my utmost at Monza to give DAMS a second title. They really deserve it!"

Pal Varhaug: 18th "It was all decided at the start. I collided with van der Garde in the braking area at La Source and I lost a lot of positions. After that I didn't feel good in the car and I wasn't able to pull back places. I hope things will go better at the last round of the season in two weeks!"

Next races: Monza (Italy) 10-11 September 2011
