Formula 3 Front-Runner Hylkema Ready For Rockingham

Dutchman Bart Hylkema has high hopes for the final three race meetings of the 2011 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series which kick-off with a visit to Rockingham in the UK this coming weekend, 3rd/4th September.Having graduated to the headline International Class just before the start of the second half of the season, prior to which he had been utterly dominant in the Rookie division, the F3 newcomer has taken no time at all to assert himself as a genuine front-runner.With only three events remaining in his debut season in the renowned FIA Formula One World Championship feeder category, Bart is keen to string together a series of consistent top 10 finishes starting with rounds 22, 23 and 24 at Rockingham in Northamptonshire next weekend.Although the 21-year-old has been on the receiving end of some enforced non-finishes in the last couple of events at Paul Ricard in France and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, his pace and racecraft at the wheel of his new Volkswagen-powered Dallara F311 have been superb. On his International Class debut at Paul Ricard the T-Sport driver secured a well deserved top eight result in the final race of the weekend and at Spa last time out, in absolutely atrocious conditions, Bart starred in qualifying with a season-best performance - eighth and fifth fastest. In race conditions Bart was rapid again but was shunted out of the opening encounter by one of the drivers from the accompanying FIA Formula 3 International Trophy. Meaning a back row start for race two, the Dutchman scythed his way through into 15th position in terms of the British F3 runners and in race three he posted a weekend's best of 12th place."I'm really looking forward to Rockingham, we've tested there quite a bit so I know the track and I'm confident we can continue the great progress we've made since stepping-up to the A Class", said the first year Formula 3 racer, "At Paul Ricard and Spa we showed that we have what it takes to be very competitive at the sharp end.""We definitely made the right decision to move up mid-season into the A Class, as I've said before I want to race against the best competition I can. There's still much more to learn for me, and more performance to be found, but I think next weekend's races should be good for us. As always I'll be pushing as hard as possible - if we can take three consistent top 10 finishes I'll be very happy."Following testing on Friday, 2nd September, British F3 qualifying is provisionally expected to start at 10.35 on Saturday, 3rd September, with round 22 taking place at 14.50. On Sunday, 4th September, round 23 is scheduled to get underway at 11.00 with round 24 beginning at 14.50.Click here for the Bart Hylkema web site - designed and built by Racecar
