Forge Motorsport Summer Performance Car Action Day at Castle Combe

Saturday 10th September 2011

With just under a week to go until the exciting Forge Motorsport Summer Performance Car Action Day at Castle Combe Circuit, hopes are high the event will peak with a grand total of 100 car clubs and some 1,500 display and track performance cars - making it the biggest Action Day event in a proud 25-year history of these track-based car shows at the Wiltshire heritage circuit, and a huge event for the Cotswolds.

To add further flavour, main event sponsors, Forge Motorsport (forgemotorsport.co.uk) have just announced the news that the inspirational Race2Recovery (www.race2recovery.co.uk) team of wounded ex-Army soldiers (as seen on BBC Top Gear) will now be attending the event. The team for Race2Recovery - including Andrew Taylor (Team Manager), Tony Harris (Driver), David Reeve (Mechanical Manager) and Nicola and Gareth Patterson (Mechanics) - will have its Land Rover Freelander V6 currently being used in the 2011 Britpart British Cross Country Championship on display on the Forge Motorsport stand, and they will also take part in a parade lap on circuit.

Race2Recovery PR spokesman, Jim Blackstock said: "All team members will be at the event all day and will happily chat to visitors about their campaign to compete on the Dakar Rally in 2013 and in the process, raise £2M for its three charities - Help for Heroes, the Royal British Legion and Combat Stress. They will happily sign autographs, pose for photos, etc. and we are really pleased to be involved in the Castle Combe event."

In addition, the Forge Motorsport stand will also feature many of their new performance car products and an exciting range of their highly-modified race and sprint cars on display and out on circuit, including: Bo Neilson's Astra VXR (2010 Time Attack Champion), Steve Chaplin's VW RSI Beetle, aka 'Herbie' (2010 VW Racing Cup Champion) and Joe Fulbrook's VW Racing Cup VW Bora 1.8T.

As well as all the display cars from national and local car clubs that will pack the paddock - ranging from the quirky Renault 9 Club to the ever-popular Subaru Impreza Clubs - there will be a brand new area called the 'Power Paddock.' This high-octane zone will feature a range of big V8-powered vehicles, including a fabulous collection of Hot Rods from the Bristol Hot Rods England Club (www.bristolhotrods.co.uk), flame-spitting Dodge Vipers and even the legendary AC Cobra. It is planned these fabulous Stateside cars will start their huge V8 350ci Chevy engines every hour, on the hour, throughout the show, giving the petrol-head crowds a glorious symphony to enjoy.

And fans of the thrilling Time Attack and drifting scenes will not be disappointed, as there will be a good number of these phenomenal sprint and sideways masters on display in the paddock, and, of course, showing how it's done out on track, in a range of hugely modified performance cars - flat out and in maximum oversteer.

Also in the paddock will be some of the UK's largest tuning and aftermarket performance brands on display - including Eibach Suspension, Pipercross Air Filters, Tarox Brakes, Scorpion Exhausts, Autoglym, Kenwood, Lichfield, Boost Junkies, Walkers Tools, ACW Motorsport Plastics and many more besides. The chance to pick up an Action Day performance part bargain is surely too good to miss?

Away from the packed paddock, the high-speed 1.85-mile circuit - with its famous corners such as Quarry, Tower and Camp - will be host to 900 performance cars, taking part in the 15 minute track sessions, entertaining spectators all through the day from 9am to 5pm. Track time for the event is incredible value - costing just £35 a session. And entry fees are similarly affordable, priced at just £10 on the gate on the day. Don't forget that under 16s go FREE, so it's a fabulous family affair!

Castle Combe has been hosting Action Day events for over 25 years now, attracting 1000's of car clubs, tens of 1000's of drivers, who have done millions of high speed laps of the track. These unique events give a great opportunity for car enthusiasts from all over the UK, but especially those from the West Country, the chance to lap around this fabulous, flowing, fast and safe circuit and for visitors to the area to enjoy seeing 1000's of perfectly-presented performance, drift and track cars in the heritage-rich paddock.

Chairman of the famous Castle Combe Action Days, Howard Strawford said: "We are very pleased indeed to have Forge Motorsport on-board for this year's Summer Performance Car Action Day - as well as top brands like Tarox, Pipercross, Eibach and Scorpion, and attractions like the Race2Recovery crew, Time Attack and Drift cars. We've got something on display in the paddock for everyone who's into their performance and sports cars and out on our fabulous, fast, flowing circuit. We are sure the huge range of cars, trade stands, track stars and demonstration cars will bring something extra special to this year's event.
