Solid Start for Atech Reid GP in FR2.0 UK at Rockingham

The impressive results are already underway at round 15 and 16 of the Certina Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship this weekend at Rockingham. The Welsh based team are starting their race weekend on a strong footing, securing top 10 starting positions in Q1 and then improving to secure the majority of the top 5 grid positions in the second qualifying session of the day.Dan Wells set an outstanding lap time in the first qualifying session of the day and will start race one on the second row of the grid in 4th position, just one place behind teammate and regular podium finisher Tio Ellinas."I am really pleased with my performance in the first qualifying session this morning." Stated an exuberant Wells. "It is a really satisfying for a driver when the lap comes together perfectly and this morning everything just clicked." Sated Wells. " 4th is my best qualifying position of the season and I will be really pushing to hold on and perhaps fight for my first podium of the year! Q2 was not so great and I should have been inside the top 5 but unfortunately I messed up my best lap and will start from grid 10. But I know the car has pace and I will be looking to improve over the weekend."Tio Ellinas will be looking to capitalize from the qualifying woes of his championship rival, Alex Lynn. The Cypriot was consistently quick in practice yesterday and produced consecutive 3rd quickest lap times in the first and second sessions today, securing another solid start to his race weekend."Race one will be a good chance for me to close the gap on the championship because Alex did not complete a fast lap and will be at the rear of the grid which puts me in a good position to really push and close the gap on the championship points." Ellinas commented." I will be really pushing for the win in race one to make the best of his misfortune and then hope to close the gap on points again in race two."Oscar King and Jack Hawksworth struggled with pace in the first qualifying session of the day but more than made up for lost time in the second session. Both drivers will start race two inside the top 5 with Oscar securing gird 4 and Jack securing grid 5."I was really frustrated after Q1 because I was really quick and I was defiantly on for a front row start." Oscar stated. "Unfortunately there was a red flag incident and the session was stopped when I was sitting in P2. When the session resumed I spun when I was 4 tenths up on my best lap and as a consequence I fell down the starting order to 10th. Q2 was the complete opposite and was in fact a better reflection of the true pace capable in the car and of myself and as a result I secured grid 4, again not as good as I had hoped but a huge improvement from Q1."Jack added "In the first session this morning I really messed up the second sector which is where I lost all of my time.I will start race two in a much better position and will be looking to charge through to a possible podium."Race one is at 10.20 am Sunday morning with race two being aired on ITV4 at 14:30.
