Double Podium Finish for Ellinas and Season Best for Wells at Rockingham FRUK

Tio Ellinas was back on form today at rounds 15 & 16 of the CERTINA Formula Renault UK 2.0 Championship at Rockingham Motor Speedway. The Cypriot clinched 2 podium positions taking 3rd in both races to finish ahead of teammate Dan Wells in race one who finished a season best in 4th, and then Jack Hawksworth in race 2."It was good to finish the weekend with two podiums." Tio commented. "I really wanted to push for the wins but, in both races the car was a bit loose and I couldn't keep up in the beginning. And then the two drivers in front were hitting the braking points perfectly and didn't make a mistake so we were always a little behind unable to make a clean move. We now look forward to Brands Hatch and move on."Dan Wells was on form this morning, amazing his fellow competitors around the paddock by securing 4th place in qualifying yesterday. The Salisbury lad was able to hold onto that position to clinch his season best result in race one but was caught up in several on track incidents to finish 10th in the second."I am really pleased to have held on to finish fourth in race one." Wells stated. " I was keeping up with Tio and was really pushing to make a move on him in the first race. It was great to have started at the race at the front and finish the race at the front. The second race was not a strong point and I just couldn't get passed people, it was a bit manic."Jack Hawksworth was an early casualty of the action packed race weekend. After attempting to pass Josh Hill in race one into the slow hairpin, Jack was cut off midway on the inside and pushed onto the grass, consequently making contact with Hill prematurely ending both drivers' race."Unfortunately the gap closed sooner than I had anticipated." Jack stated. "I was clearly up the inside of Josh. I am not convinced he saw me but I was forced onto the grass and with no grip and nowhere to go we made contact, which was frustrating and ended both our races in the first lap. Race two was much better. It is refreshing to end the race weekend on a positive note and to go away with some points on the board!"The incident between Josh and Jack caused a short safety car stint and as the race resumed so did the on track action.Oscar King was in the mix, having started 9th on the grid, he moved up one position into 8th in the early stages of the race but fell back down the pack to 10th later returning to meet the chequered flag in 8th. King was not so lucky in the second race of the day when once again it was Josh Hill mixed up in an on track incident with an Atech Reid GP driver, this time it was Oscar who was the unlucky participant."Race one could have been better because I set the 3rd fastest lap and got passed Lynn, but I just couldn't pull it all together. The car didn't feel great after the restart and then it was downhill from there." Oscar stated. " It was really devastating to DNF race 2 after Josh made contact with the rear of the car. There is substantial damage to the rear wing and the side of the car, which isn't great. Its never fun to be hit from the rear because you just become a passenger, but what can you do?"We are heading to Brands Hatch on the first weekend of October for round 17 & 18 of the CERTINA Formula Renault UK 2.0 Championship.
