Stunning Third for Josh Wainwright But Silverstone Unlucky for Andy Reid

Aye Gee Suzuki rider Josh Wainwright gained a fantastic third place in round 11 of the National Superstock 600 Championship at Silverstone Circuit his team-mate youngster Andy Reid was unfortunate to crash out of a great fifth place.

Josh qualified on the front row in third place for the 10-lap race on the longest track in the UK. At the 3.6-mile circuit Josh was only 0.6 off pole position and 0.1 off second placed man. As they held the lights Josh gained a bad start and lost a few places into turn one. He managed to regain his form and was fourth after the opening lap making the move on his team-mate Andy Reid on lap two.

Josh rode a fairly lonely race in third position but was able to keep his concentration throughout the ten lap race and brought the Aye-Gee Suzuki home in a great third place, two seconds in front of fourth place man Johnny Blackshaw.

Josh said "I'm really pleased to once again be on the podium it's a really nice feeling and I know the Aye-Gee Suzuki team have worked hard all weekend and it's nice to be able to repay their effort with a podium. I got a terrible start and the bike lurched and jumped down to turn one, I was angry at myself for that but made a conscious effort to get my head down and not loose the front runners. I knew it was Andy in front of me so I didn't want to make a move on him that was harsh or put him off his stride so I had to make sure it was smooth and safe. The front runners started to bridge a gap and although I had no one out there near me I had to work hard to keep putting in consistent lap times and moving forward. I hope we can take this pace to Brands and get another podium there at the final round."

Andy Reid gained is best qualifying position in seventh place on his short time on board a 600 machine. The young Irishman worked hard all weekend and was in fourth place after first qualifying. Still learning the trade of a 600 and making the big jump from the 125's he gained a fantastic start and was in third place at turn one. Fighting hard he was locked in a six bike battle for fourth place and was setting consistent lap times.

However on lap four he crashed at Farm Curve sliding out of the race and potentially his best result of the year on the Aye Gee Suzuki. He said "I'm really disappointed not to have finished as I've felt pretty good all weekend and it's a track I really like riding at. The Aye Gee team have worked so hard and I just wanted to get them some decent results. Maybe I was trying to hard to get myself a good result and I knew my times over the weekend had been pretty good and I'm just really disappointed that I couldn't get a result. I know I'm learning but I'd like to finish the season on a high note so hopefully I'll be able to do something at Brands in a couple of weeks."
