Tom Onslow-Cole on the podium for Team Aon

Tom Onslow-Cole has taken a brilliant podium for Team Aon during the second race of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship weekend at Brands Hatch. Onslow-Cole quickly made up positions from his fifth place start and was fighting for second position throughout the race. Tom Chilton finished fifth and Andy Neate was ninth – once again all Team Aon cars finished in the top 10.Onslow-Cole made a lightning start and was lying in P4 during the first lap, Chilton was P7 while Neate had also made up a place and was running in P8. Onslow-Cole’s speed was apparent to see and he quickly began chasing Macdowall for third place - taking the place from the Chevrolet driver in the early laps. Team mate Chilton was also piling on the pressure as he was fast catching Nash in front. With Chilton held up it was team mate Neate who then started to close in on Chilton during the third lap. With Chilton and Neate so close to one another Neal quickly caught the duelling pair; Neal got past Neate a few laps later and started to chase Chilton. Shedden also found a way past Neate shortly after.Onslow-Cole was also fighting for position with Jackson however despite being extremely close he was unable to make a move and find a way through.Macdowall’s Chevrolet developed an engine issue towards the end of the race taking him out of the running which elevated Chilton to sixth and Neate to ninth. Meanwhile Onslow-Cole was still trying to a find way past Jackson however the Motorbase driver defended well and Onslow-Cole finished in third position – the third podium of the 2011 season in the new Global Ford Focus. Chilton made an impressive overtaking manoeuvre on the final lap to clinch fifth position while Neate finished in ninth. Tenth place was the chosen reverse gird number which means Neate will start on the front row for the final race of the weekend. Speaking about his third position, Tom Onslow-Cole said “It’s really great to be on the podium here at Brands. We have definitely made a step forward with the development of this car since Rockingham - I had a different set up to the other guys and my car felt great during the race, I’m looking forward to the final race of the day.”
