Swan Yamaha win top Superbike slot with YZF-R1H

The Swan Yamaha team, it's sponsors, team members and supporters are all celebrating after the team's Tommy Hill secured a maiden MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship title with a sensational performance in the final race of the year beating title rival John Hopkins to the line by just 0.006 seconds. The second place meant that Hill was crowned champion with a two point advantage at the end of the season.

Riding Yamaha's cross-plane cranked YZF-R1 superbike at the final round held at the Brands hatch circuit in Kent, Hill had to wait for the last race, the last lap and the last corner to earn the coveted mantle of British Champion. With that rider championship also came the prestigious Manufacturer's championship, which, earned with the help of Tommy's team mate Michael Laverty, Yamaha are very proud of.

A clearly excited Tommy said straight after the race "I am gobsmacked to have won the title for Swan Yamaha. I was trying to stay as relaxed as possible in that final race. This season has put a lot of pressure on everyone. We have been regularly finishing in the top three and that has set the benchmark and the whole of the Swan Yamaha team have been working so hard all year to make this possible. It has just been a complete shock for me and I feel like we should be having another race next weekend now! It wasn't until the other riders started congratulating me that I even realised I had won as it was so close between myself and Hopper".

The Yamaha YZF-R1 is available in production form from Yamaha dealers and is currently offered with preferential finance options. More information is available from yamaha-motor.co.uk
