Australian Suzuki rider Josh Waters talks about his season so far

Australian Team Suzuki rider Josh Waters talks about his season so far that has included two World Superbike Championship appearances with Yoshimura Suzuki, the Suzuka 8-Hour; and this coming weekend's WSBK finale round at Portimao in Portugal.

This year has been a great one, getting to race the best riders in the world at circuits I have dreamed of competing at!

My year started off when Suzuki Australia hooked me up to ride with Yoshimura Suzuki for a wild card at the first round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island. It was a great weekend and I sure did learn a lot racing on a full World-spec bike for the first time.

My next few races were back with my Aussie team at round two and three of the Australian Championship. I was able to win and also break the lap record which was pretty cool. Then I headed Stateside where Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki made me up a bike to go test at Miller Motorsports Park. It was awesome again riding for another Suzuki outfit. Later that month I raced round five of the WSBK at Miller for Yoshimura Suzuki. It was another great experience.

I then flew straight back to Australia to race the ASBK where I was able to place second.

The following month Yoshimura Suzuki rang and asked if I would like to compete in the Suzuka 8 hour. It was an awesome event and something that I have followed for a long time. One of the coolest things over the event was getting to race with my two famous team mates in Nobu Aoki and Yukio Kagayama. We did very well and were able to get Pole and then in the race we finished second.

My next race after this was another round of the ASBK where I was able to place second again.

As I write this now I'm waiting for a flight to go race the final round of WSBK in Portugal. I hope to try hard and have a good weekend. After this weekend I have three meetings left in Australia. Two of the rounds are for the ASBK and then the Australian Endurance Championship.

I hope for myself and the team that we can finish the year off with some wins. Thanks for reading and see you at the racetrack.
