Brewster secures Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am2 title‏

In a dramatic final race of the season at Silverstone on Sunday (16 October), George Brewster (Celtic Speed) was confirmed as Pro-Am2 champion in the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB.With eight wins from 19 races, the Scottish racer was the benchmark for the category but was only confirmed as champion at the very end of the season. On the opening lap of the deciding race, contact with another car tipped Brewster’s 911 GT3 Cup into a spin and he had to make a pit stop to change a rear puncture before fighting back to score enough points to beat Keith Webster to the title.Brewster (Edinburgh) joined the Carrera Cup part way through 2009 and contested a full season in 2010 when he finished second in Pro-Am2 to Glenn McMenamin.“There have been so many highs and lows this season,” he said. “We started on a high with a double win at Brands Hatch and kept up the momentum from there. Then we hit a mid-season blip and we went to the Nurburgring and got taken out after 20 seconds. We had small problems at Thruxton and Snetterton and all these little things cost you.“I’m very pleased how it has all turned out,” he said. “It’s been well worth it after a disappointing 2010. The competition is absolutely intense but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.“The championship is very well organised; there is a great bunch of guys and the racing is very hard and very competitive. I don’t know what you have to do to get to the front of this championship and so I’ll settle for Pro-Am2!”
