Ford Anglia’s fly the flag for Britain at Walter Hayes Sale

A trio of Ford Anglia’s, arguably three of the finest examples of their type in the world, are due to go under the hammer at the forthcoming Walter Hayes Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions on 4th November.

Thought to be one of the most successful Anglia’s in the historic racing saloon scene, and estimated at between £35,000 to £40,000, is a 1963 105E FIA race car driven by drivers including Mark Hales and John Shipman. During the 2000 season the car broke the lap record at Silverstone for the 1000cc class.

Hot on its heels is a 1965 Ford Anglia Superspeed Replica Race Car, which has been prepared to the highest specification and harks back to specialist racing company Superspeed Conversions Ltd, which was established in the late ‘50s by two brothers, Mike and John Young in the East End of London.

Meanwhile, a road car offering comes courtesy of a Superspeed Ford Anglia 1650, which was made by the firm in 1965 to celebrate their outstanding success with the 1650 racers. Only six road going models were made and this is believed to be the only one still in existence.

Other British cars of interest include a low-mileage 1974 Jaguar E-Type V12 with continuous service history, a 1932 MG F2 Magna Sports and a 1961 Jaguar Mk.IX.
