Atech Reid GP has announced the 2011 Protyre Formula Renault finals series driver line up ahead of round one of the two-part series at Snetterton and Rockingham circuit. With plenty of track time and brilliant prizes up for grabs, it is no wonder that the series has attracted 32 entries from both the UK and European Formula Renault Championships to take part in this weekend's race.Salisbury driver Dan Wells will continue his season with the team, who finished 3rd on their debut in the 2011 CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship. Lining up next to him will be Australian driver Geoff Uhrhane, who was scouted by the team from the Formula Ford category early this year. As a late entrant to the series, Ethan Ringel will complete the 3 car entry but will only partake in the practice sessions for the first round at Snetterton. He will be hoping to complete in the full second round of the series at Rockingham next week."I have been testing the GP3 car recently with David Hayle and Atech CRS and it was suggested to me that the Formula Renault 2.0 Finals series would be a good opportunity for me to get some car racing experience. Unfortunately it was a last-minute decision and I am only allowed to partake in the practice sessions this week but, I am hoping to get a full entry for the next round in Rockingham. " Ringel stated. After finishing inside the top 10 in the 2011 CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship, Dan Wells commented "It is a great way to end the year and also to prepare for next season because of the amount of track time we will receive." Dan stated, " I really enjoyed my time racing with Atech Reid GP this year and plan to continue with the team in 2012. I will be pushing at the 2 rounds to secure my maiden podium finish in the category before returning to the full series next year "Geoff Uhrhane added "This will be a real test this weekend after racing the Formula Ford all year. It's great to get so much track time before qualifying and I will be looking to improve every session." Geoff stated. "It was a huge learning curve stepping into the Formula Renault 2.0 at the end of the season at Brands Hatch this year but, I am confident that the Protyre Finals series will be a brilliant opportunity for me to get used to the car in time for the 2012 championship."The packed schedule will give all of the drivers plenty of time on the circuit and, with seven practice sessions scheduled ahead of the first round this weekend at Snetterton there is a chance for drivers to qualify for their National A license ahead of the 2012 championship year.Team Principal Anthony Reid commented on the series "There will be four, 45 minute races, two on each day after qualifying which will give our drivers plenty of racing experience heading into the 2012 season. It's a great opportunity to get the feel of the car, its going to be very busy for the drivers but a great experience none the less"Qualifying starts on Saturday morning, ahead of the first two races at 12.15 and 15. 45. The second qualifying session begins at 9 am before the third and fourth races at 11.55 and 15.30.
