Monteiro prepares for the FIA WTCC season finale

The last races of the 2011 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) season will be held this weekend on the Macau circuit, which traditionally hosts the season finale.Tiago Monteiro has a special place in his heart for the Guia city circuit, which has generated some of the best races in modern motor sport history. Putting on a good show will be one of Tiago's objectives, and he also wants to finish the season in with a flourish and get back on the podium. Some 6117 meters long, the Guia circuit will only be driven 9 laps in each of the two races this weekend. Like last year, Tiago will have the pleasure not only of racing, but also of racing with his compatriot, Andre Couto, who will be driving a SEAT with the Sun-Red team. "The Macau race has its own charm which I am very sensitive to. In particular, I am very happy that Andre Couto will be with us again this year," Tiago Monteiro declared. On a purely sporting level, the driver of the SEAT Leon 1.6 liter Turbo hopes to be spared by the misfortune that was visited upon him in the second part of the season and which prevented him from competing for the 4th place finish in the championship. "For me, a good result would be a podium. I have nothing left to lose and therefore I will do the most I can to achieve this goal," Tiago affirmed, "I am aware that the competition will be strong and it won't be able to reach our goals, but I will try to do the best job possible. We will have an idea of our competitiveness during the first tests. I am confident."The Macau races will be broadcast by Eurosport on Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
