Drama and injury for Maxxis Apico Suzuki in Belfast

Round two of the British Supercross Championship proved to be an eventful round for the Maxxis Apico Suzuki Team at the weekend, as injury for Lewis Gregory and a controversial coming together for Stuart Edmonds, made it a tough round for the Rob Hooper run team.

For Gregory, Belfast would prove to be a round to forget after a missed gear in the opening heat race forced the RM-Z rider to crash hard, leaving him unable to take part in any further action.

With Edmonds determined to repeat his successful first round result, an early third place and a subsequent second place in the last chance race looked promising for the Irishman. But it was a controversial coming together with Brad Anderson that would cause a stir in the head-to-head race, when Edmonds lost his rear brake early-on. Despite this, Edmonds still finished the evening with a great fifth place in the SX Lites race, and was looking likely to do the same on the SX final, before a stall relegated the RM-Z rider back to tenth, eventually crossing the line in eighth.

Stuart Edmonds: "An eventful round to say the least, and a slightly disappointing end to the main final. The bike ran well, and despite a few issues, I'm still feeling pretty positive overall. The clash with Brad was unfortunate, but we've put it behind us - that's racing."

Rob Hooper: "A tough round to say the least, but both boys tried hard. Lewis thought he'd broken his wrist badly, but thankfully it doesn't look too serious and is just a small break and Stuart is very philosophical about his results and the evening in general. With the Glasgow round cancelled, we've got a long wait until the next round and by then we'll be into a new year, so I'm unsure if this will be Stuart's last ride for us. If it is, a big thanks to him for his effort and enthusiasm."
