2012 V8 Ute Racing Calendar Announced

The 2012 calendar for the Auto One V8 Ute Racing Series – protected by Armor All has been confirmed with eight rounds, 24 races (at least 12 of which will be telecast live) along with eight post produced TV shows all locked in for next season.

All rounds of the V8 Ute Series will again be telecast on the Seven Network, SPEED Channel, TV3 New Zealand, Motors TV Europe, Telenova Italy, Motorworld and SPEED Channel 2 in the USA.

The V8 Utes will visit six states and one territory kicking off the Series for the 12th year in a row at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, 1 – 4 March where the series will celebrate its 300th race start.

Category Manager, Bill West of SPHERIX is pleased with the Calendar and is looking forward to another exciting year of V8 Ute Racing.

“We are really happy with our calendar. It takes us back to a few places we haven’t been to in a while like Tasmania and Winton Raceway, where we have a fairly large fan base. The Utes put on a great show in 2011 and will continue to do so in 2012,” said Mr West.

For Round two, the Series will return to Symmon’s Plains in Tasmania for the first time since 2009, then head to Perth for the second year in a row which will showcase local brothers, Jake and Rhys McNally.

Round four, the V8 Utes will return to the top end at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin for the seventh year running.

“We really enjoy Darwin, the fans love us, the atmosphere is always spectacular and you can’t go past the weather,” West said with a grin.

50 years of motor racing will mark the halfway point of the year at Mount Panorama in Bathurst. This will be the V8 Utes ninth appearance at the track and the Series is keeping something exciting up its sleeve to celebrate 50 years of motor racing at the famous track.

The Series will head back to the Armor All Gold Coast 600 for the penultimate Round before crowning the 2012 champion at the Sydney Telstra 500.
