Premier drifting series joins Motors TV

Motors TV is pleased to announce Japan’s D1 Drifting Championship as the latest addition to its eclectic roster of international motorsport. The hugely popular D1 Grand Prix has long been established as the world’s premier drift series, with rounds held at legendary Japanese circuits Suzuka and Fuji as well as the streets of capital city Tokyo. D1 will air alongside US series Formula Drift, which returns to Motors TV’s winter line-up this year. Inspired by its Japanese equivalent, the series has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2004. Today it stages seven events nationally, including a season-opening trip to the fabled Long Beach street circuit. In recent years drifting has attracted an increasing European fanbase, with home-grown championships springing up across the continent. Chief among these is the King of Europe Series that already airs on the High Speed Television Channel. Now drift fans can also look forward to the world's premier competitions with Motors TV's coverage getting underway on Monday December 19th. D1 kicks off the drift double bill at 6.55pm followed by the American series at 8.00pm. “We are thrilled to have added the world’s premier drift competition to our schedule,” commented Fred Viger, Motors TV Head of Programming and Acquisitions. “It is a further demonstration of our commitment to delivering the widest range of motorsport from across the globe. Furthermore, it fits with Motors TV’s desire to focus our winter programming on high-entertainment series. “I’m sure drifting will again prove popular with our viewers. Some will already be familiar with it, but I’m equally confident that those sampling their first taste of the sport will be hooked from the word go.”Monday December 19• 6.55pm – D1 Drifting Championship• 8.00pm – Formula Drift
