Formula Kart Stars looks ahead to 2012‏

* Season to open at Kimbolton, conclude at Whilton.

* England, Scotland and Wales all represented in six-month campaign.

Formula Kart Stars drivers will once again travel the length and breadth of Britain and possibly beyond in their quest to land one of the 2012 championship titles as the Formula One Management backed Championship unveiled their twelve round calendar for the upcoming season.

The only karting championship in the world supported by Bernie Ecclestone and Lewis Hamilton will also retain its popular doubleheader format of timed qualifying, two heats and a final on each day that has proved extremely popular with competitors since its introduction in 2010.

Beginning on Easter Weekend April 6th-8th, the championship will return to Kimbolton for the first time since 2009 for the opening two rounds of the year before heading east to Ellough Park on the weekend of May 18th-20th for rounds three and four, the Suffolk based circuit hosting an FKS round for the third consecutive season.

The half way point of the championship will be reached in Scotland and Formula Kart Stars returns to the home of the West of Scotland Kart Club at Larkhall for the first time since 2007 on the weekend of June 8th-10th.

From the hills and glens of Lanarkshire the FKS bandwagon then moves on to a different set of hills and valleys for rounds seven and eight at the beautiful Glan Y Gors Park circuit in the foothills of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales on the weekend of July 13th-15th.

Although the visits to Larkhall and Scotland coincide with the important exam period in schools, the Formula Kart Stars learning bus and qualified tutors will be on hand throughout the year so drivers can continue their studies during the race weekends.

The venue for the traditional Formula Kart Stars ‘summer holiday’ round on the weekend of August 10th-12th has yet to be confirmed as the championship awaits confirmation of the latest licensing rules regarding international competition although rounds nine and ten promise to be just as spectacular as the previous trips to Genk in Belgium.

Returning to England for the final two rounds of the championship, Whilton Mill in Daventry will host the season finale, having last hosted the final rounds of the championship in 2009 on the weekend of September 6th-8th to conclude a six-month campaign.

“I’m delighted to offer our competitors a calendar that is both challenging and fun,” says championship director Carolynn Hoy. “Kimbolton have made huge strides to make their paddock suitable for our series and Ellough Park always pulls out all the stops for us. We always receive a warm and friendly welcome at Larkhall and drivers simply love the Glan Y Gors circuit.

“Although we can’t confirm our August venue yet the championship will ensure that wherever we race it will have the same ‘wow’ factor as our previous trips to Belgium. To finish the year at Whilton Mill makes perfect sense, as it is so central to many of our customers.

“It also gives me great pleasure to have the Boston College Learning Bus back with us in 2012 as driver’s education must always come first. I think a lot of drivers and their families were surprised at how much support was available to them in 2011 and I believe the bus will be a very busy place as drivers revise for their exams.”

To register for Formula Kart Stars 2012 please visit the championship at Kartmania on December 3rd-4th or go to the downloadable entry form on the series website formulakartstars.com. The championship will also be hosting the Karting Stage in January’s Autosport International Show in Birmingham where registrations will also be taken although with demand for all classes already exceeding levels seen in 2011 drivers are advised to get their entries in early.
