Masters Historic Racing returns to Barcelona

Masters Historic Racing has confirmed that it will play a key part of the 2012 Catalan Classic Festival at the Barcelona circuit next April.

The three-day festival, created by Spanish enthusiast Jesús Pozo, will run from April 20th-22nd and will build on the huge success of the 2011 event.

Masters has confirmed that it will take selected grids for the second Catalan Classic Festival, but an announcement on which grids will race in the Spanish sunshine will be made shortly. The ICGP series for classic motorcycles has confirmed it will return to the Spanish track, taking machines and riders of yesteryear.

Masters Historic Racing Event Manager Rachel Bailey said: "The inaugural Catalan Classic Festival was a huge success and we are working hard to make sure that the 2012 event is even bigger and better. We are aware that for some British teams, Barcelona is a long way to go so we will work carefully with our competitors and the event organisers in Spain to ensure that we get as full an entry as possible. The circuit is superb and everyone who raced there last year was full of praise for the circuit, the organisation and the event. It was the first time such a race meeting had been run in Spain and no-one really knew what to expect. Now that Jesús Pozo and his team have a year's experience of running the event, it will surely build for 2012.

"We will look at taking GP Masters and sports cars but we will make a full announcement on the categories shortly."
