Jim Beam continues V8 Supercars commitment

Bourbon whiskey brand Jim Beam has renewed as the official spirit sponsor of V8 Supercars for a further three years and will continue as the major sponsor of the Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) team in 2012.

Under the terms of the Kentucky-based brand's naming sponsorship, DJR, the longest established motor racing team in Australia, will continue to be known as Jim Beam Racing.

Financial terms of both deals were not released.

Ray Noble, brand director, Bourbon Beam Australia Pty Ltd, said: “We’re thrilled we can reinforce Jim Beam’s commitment to motorsport and its fans in Australia through our partnership with both Dick Johnson Racing and V8 Supercars.”

“It’s great we can continue to be involved in one of the most popular and well watched sports in Australia. As a global brand, we’re extremely excited to see the Championship expand as they introduce more international events and the launch of The Car of The Future in 2013.”

Earlier this year, V8 Supercars signed a deal that will see a race held at The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas for the next five years.

Dick Johnson, owner of DJR, said: “We’re thrilled to know we have the support from Jim Beam as we’ve worked so closely with them over the years. We know our fans and our team mates will be as excited as us about next season, and to have Dean Fiore as part of the Jim Beam Racing set up in 2012 adds even more anticipation.”

The opening round of next year’s championship, the Clipsal 500, takes place in Adelaide on 1st March.
