SUPERSTARS delights crowds at the Motor Show of Bologna

After a 2-year break due to the closeness of the final race of the last seasons at Kyalami, the SUPERSTARS SERIES was back as a main act at the famous "Area 48" of the Motor Show of Bologna. Eight drivers challenged each other in knockout heats on the twisty arena track of the venue. In the end, it was Thomas Biagi (Team BMW Italia) to prevail aboard his BMW M3, as he defeated Andrea Bertolini (Maserati Quattroporte – Swiss Team) in the final. The third place final handed the last podium spot available to Biagi's team-mate Stefano Gabellini, who defeated youngster Ivan Tramontozzi (BMW M3 - Movisport). The runs of four more drivers were halted in quarter finals including Nico Caldarola (Mercedes C63 AMG), Gian Maria Gabbiani (Jaguar XF), Michela Cerruti (Mercedes C63 AMG) e Max Pigoli (Mercedes C63 AMG).

FGGroup President Maurizio Flammini: "The Motor Show of Bologna is the world's top event when it comes to highlighting people's passion for motorsports. And the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES is aiming at becoming the world's benchmark for this type of racing in an effort to follow in the same successful path of the Superbike World Championship, which we promoted since the beginning. SUPERSTARS racing will soon be achieving the same results with an overall record still standing in motorsports of 10 car manufacturers competing: Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jaguar, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes e Porsche."

AUTOSPRINT, FGGROUP CELEBRATE 2011 CHAMPIONS

The race itself hasn't been the only highlight of SUPERSTARS at Bologna's Motor Show. Team BMW Italia were awarded the "Trofeo Salvatore Genovese" prize for the best team while Francesco Ascani won the Stars Drivers title with his BMW M3. Regarding the INTERNATIONAL GTSPRINT SERIES, the main prize went to the duo of Giuseppe Cirò and Gaetano Ardagna Perez, who won the overall series on their AF Corse Ferrari 430.
