THE line-up for the New Year Classic at Newport on January 2 has been completed with Andrew Tully and Mark Lemon.Edinburgh star Tully is a former track record holder at Queensway Meadows, whilst ex-Wasp Lemon has been a high scorer for Newcastle since leaving Newport in mid-2009.Co-promoter Nick Mallett said: “We are really pleased with the final twelve we have chosen to ride. Unfortunately we have had to let down some riders who wanted to take part and must thank them for their interest.“We have riders who are club No.1s, past winners of not only the Classic but the Welsh Open and Prince of Wales Trophy, former track record holders, ex and current Wasps and an exciting newcomer. I can’t wait!”

MARTIN Smolinski, the man labelled ‘Mr Telford’ by ice speedway organisers, will appear in the last ever event at the Shropshire rink on February 26.The hugely popular German, a former Elite League title winner with Coventry, made a special request to promoter Graham Drury to appear in the meetings when he read they would be the last.Smolinski, who won the British Open at Telford in 2008 and finished runner-up to Tony Atkin this year, said: “I always enjoy Telford and I have great fun with the crowd and I was very sad when I discovered this would be the last one.“I’m coming over to win it and I am desperate to do that and write my name in the Telford record books as the last ever winner.”
