POOLE boss Neil Middleditch is backing winter signing Sam Masters to play a big part for the defending Elite League champions next season.

Masters has agreed a deal to double-up with the Pirates alongside his commitments for Somerset in the Premier League having gained top-flight experience with King’s Lynn in 2011.

Middleditch said: “Sam is a great addition to our team and the Aussie connection with Poole keeps going. He’s great mates with Chris Holder and Darcy Ward and will fit right in.

“We need to come up with a battle plan, but I would like to use Sam in as many meetings as possible because I feel he can pull his weight in the Elite.”

FREDDIE Lindgren will sign his 2012 Wolverhampton contract during a flying visit to the UK early in the New Year.

The Swedish star is to be the special guest at Wolves’ club sponsors Parrys International’s open day on January 8 and he will also be on the panel at a winter talk-in the following evening.

Lindgren said: “Wolverhampton feels like home to me, it’s a good club and as soon as the season finished we were talking about me coming back in 2012.“I suppose it shows I am improving every year and I think I can improve even more in the coming season. We have a good team spirit at Wolverhampton and that’s because they always try and keep as many of the team as they can.”
