Jack's back for 2012 British Formula 3

Jack Harvey is to continue for a second season in the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series with title-winning team Carlin.

The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver enjoyed a successful 2011 season, taking four podiums including a brilliant maiden win at the Nürburgring in Germany.

Harvey, who was the 2010 Formula BMW runner-up, says his goal is title victory: "I'm really looking forward to staying with Carlin for my second year in British Formula 3. My goal for the season is to win the championship; I have a great team around me at Carlin who I believe can help me to achieve this ambition."

The 18-year-old from Lincolnshire has spent a great deal of time over the winter preparing for the coming season. Harvey was consistently on the pace in Carlin's extensive winter testing programme, and impressed his team with his development as an F3 driver.

"The Racing Steps Foundation, which supports Jack, is an incredible initiative, and we're very proud to be working with it again in 2012 in our fifth consecutive season together," said Trevor Carlin.

"We're delighted to have Jack back on board with us. Having made the big step up from Formula BMW, Jack really developed as a driver last year and by the middle point of the season had become a consistent front runner - the highlight of his season being a much deserved victory at the Nürburgring. With the experience of a year in F3, we expect Jack to be a championship challenger from the outset."

Harvey is Carlin's second announced signing, joining Spain's Carlos Sainz Jr on the squad.

British Formula 3, which enjoys the headlining support of Cooper Tires and is additionally backed by Sunoco Racing Fuels and Anglo American Oil Company, features a 29-race schedule for 2012. There will be races on the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuits of Monza, Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone, as well as the blue riband Grand Prix de Pau and events alongside the Blancpain Endurance Series at Paul Ricard and with British GT on the UK's top circuits. The season gets underway at Oulton Park at Easter.
