Organised by the Porsche Human Performance Team at its Silverstone base, theday gave 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar Daniel an opportunity to testhis race fitness, challenge himself at the wheel of the i-Zone Performancerace simulator and obtain essential advice on sports nutrition.
Of course, the highlight of the event was an insightful question and answersession with Red Bull Racing's Webber in which the Australian offered expertopinion regarding what it takes to succeed at the highest level. To cap offa fantastic day, Daniel emerged victorious from a competitive 'shoot-out'behind the wheel of the i-Zone simulator - winning him a signed cap from theF1 ace!
As the longest serving driver in the Red Bull team's history, and a multipleGrand Prix winner to boot, Webber's advice certainly provided plenty of foodfor thought for 19-year-old Daniel as he prepares for the biggest season ofhis motor racing career to date in Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
"The day was absolutely mega", said the West Yorkshireman, "We started offwith a nutrional talk and a chance to talk with Mark and ask him about howhe prepared for an F1 weekend. After that we had a Yoga session, which was alot harder than I thought it was going to be, but I learned some reallyuseful things that'll definitely help my training.
"After lunch, there was a Q&A session with Mark - it felt weird talking tosuch a superstar of F1, he's a really down to earth guy though. To get thathigh in motorsport, to achieve so much and yet still be a 'normal' guy wasfantastic to see. Winning the shoot-out at i-Zone was a great way to top offthe day and meeting Mark really gives you the inspiration to work harderthan ever to try and reach the top."
Ahead of his maiden campaign in the highly prestigious Porsche Carrera CupGB Championship, Daniel is now focussing his preparations on his first testof 2012 with Team Parker Racing which will take place next month. Fromthere, the season itself will get underway on 31st March/1st April at Kent'sBrands Hatch Indy Circuit as support to the British Touring CarChampionship.
