Paraplegic racer Aaron Morgan gears up for second GAZ Shocks Production BMW Season

Aaron Morgan, an ambitious young paraplegic racing driver from Basingstoke has secured a second year of sponsorship from leading specialist supplier of wheelchair accessible vehicles for rent, Adapted Vehicle Hire (AVH).  Aaron completed his first full season in the Gaz Shocks Production BMW Championship in 2011 and, last weekend, received the Stratos Control Systems Driver of the Year award.

The renewal of his sponsorship by AVH means Aaron, from Basingstoke, will be able to compete in in his second full season of the Production BMW Cup.

Aaron, who in 2009 became the youngest ever disabled person to be awarded an MSA National B race licence, will race with AVH branding on his overalls and car which is adapted with hand controls.  AVH is just one of a number of sponsors supporting Aaron this season..

“The continued support from AVH is crucial to help me focus on my racing and improving my performances from last season” confirmed Aaron. “AVH will pay a big part in helping me complete another full season’s racing.  It’s great to have this level of support and I’d like to thank AVH for their generosity in helping to keep my dream alive.”

“We are extremely proud to be sponsoring Aaron for the second consecutive season and really hope he can progress well from his rookie season” said Lorraine Farnon, Managing Director, AVH.  “Aaron is as focused as ever and is determined to prove his talents to the racing world having shown that you don't need a throttle pedal to be competitive.  In 2011 he was the first driver to take points in a Production BMW car equipped with hand controls only and the fact that he has just been awarded Driver of the Championship is testament to his achievements.

“Aaron hasn’t allowed his disability stop him pursuing his passion of motor racing.  Indeed when he’s on the race track he is no different to any other driver and we wanted to make it possible for him to continue following his dream.

“AVH is committed to helping people with disabilities and their families stay mobile and enjoy the same privileges as anyone else” concluded Lorraine Farnon.  We are tremendously excited to be supporting Aaron in 2012.  We wish him all the best on the track for the coming season and hope to see the AVH car driving home to victory”.

AVH offers a unique selection of vehicles, from compact city cars to larger 4x4s and a state-of-the-art adaptations workshop to ensure that every vehicle has the appropriate adaptations required for people with different disabilities. Whether renting for one day, one week, a month or longer, AVH offers a range of vehicles from all the major motor manufacturers, for the ultimate in flexibility for disabled customers and their friends and family. Plus all AVH drivers are trained to provide detailed handovers, ensuring the customer fully understands the functionality of the vehicle

Aaron aims to compete in all the race meetings in the Production BMW Championship in 2012 and will be blogging about his experiences throughout the year.  AVH has also set up a dedicated section on the AVH website to report on his results and other events in which he will be involved throughout the year.
