JOSEF KRÁL COMPLETES THE TEAM LINE-UP FOR REIGNING GP2 CHAMPIONS, BARWA ADDAX
Josef Král will be Johnny Cecotto’s team-mate at Barwa Addax Teamthe next 2012 GP2 Series in the successful Barwa Addax Team, the reigning team champions of last season.
Josef Král has reached an agreement with the Spanish team and is now one of the official drivers for the 2012 season, which will be competed over 12 events, 11 of which will run alongside Formula 1. Josef has competed in part of 2010, in the full 2011 season of the GP2 Series and in the two Asia series that followed, showing that he has the ability to compete with the best at this level. He was given the chance to test with Barwa Addax Team in the post season test in Barcelona last November. The team had a good opportunity to see for themselves the talent he had been demonstrating throughout his sporting career. The Czech driver also adapted to the team and their way of working immediately and it was clear from the start that team and driver had connected really well. Král has developed as a driver over these two seasons and has two podium places to his name at legendary circuits like Monte Carlo, Spa and two further podiums in Abu Dhabi as part of the GP2 Asia series.
He also finished in a very creditable second overall in formula BMW UK 2007 and third overall in the Formula Masters series 2009 driver’s championships, which gave him the opportunity to step up in class. He started his career competing in karting until 2004 and later took part in promotional clases such as, formula 1400 or formula BMW in Germany. He has also had the opportunity to test drive a formula 1 car in the test of promising young drivers in 2010 in which he completed 61 laps.
