MSA seeks applications for CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy

The Motor Sports Association (MSA) is inviting young British karters to put themselves forward for a chance to represent the UK in the 2012 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

The CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy is a world championship for 13- to 15-year-old karters, run in support of the “U18” Karting World Championship. The MSA is permitted to nominate a single driver to contest the Trophy’s three events: Braga, Portugal (6-8 July); Angerville, France (24-26 August); and Bahrain (1-3 November).

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Be aged 13 to 15 (specific dates apply – please see full regulations)Hold a CIK-FIA Grade C Junior International Karting Licence issued by the MSA, subject to having participated in either a minimum of six national karting events or three events entered on the International Sporting CalendarRobert Reid, MSA Performance Director, said: “The CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy presents a fantastic opportunity for a young British karter to make their mark on the international stage. Both Roy Johnson and Ben Barnicoat have represented the UK with aplomb for the last two years, with Ben only narrowly missing out on the 2011 title. We look forward to receiving applications for this year’s championship, although I know it will be incredibly tough to pick just one to go forward.”

Application forms and full regulations are available on request from greg.symes@msauk.org, and completed forms must be submitted by close of business on Monday 19 March 2012. An MSA Performance Panel will then select a single applicant to contest the Trophy as the sole UK representative.
