Superstars team Solaris shakes down revamped Chevrolet Lumina CR8 at Varano‏

THE SWISS-BASED TEAM HIT THE TRACK WITH THEIR HIGHLY-REVISED MUSCLE RACER AS THEY PREPARE FOR A FULL TEST NEXT WEEK AT FRANCIACORTA

Solaris Motorsport has been working non-stop this winter in an huge effort to re-visit and prepare their Chevrolet Lumina CR8 racecars for 2012. The powerful muscle cars have been rebuilt almost from ground-up with huge chassis improvements despite remaining completely within the rules. The team's engineers have also worked on an improved torque curve with the goal of taking full advantage of the car's horsepower both on the straights and exiting the corners.

Last week, the Swiss-based squad went on-track for a shakedown. The outcome proved extremely positive as the whole team was impressed by the pushrod-powered V8 saloon. Francesco Sini (a well-renowned name in SUPERSTARS thanks to the results scored aboard a Jaguar XF in 2011) was behind the wheel for a system check.

The team will keep working on a tight schedule. On Tuesday, February the 28th, they will be back on-track for a more compelling test at Franciacorta.

"Finally we went on-track with our first car - said Francesco Sini - and we were eager to validate the work done so far. We couldn't be happier with the results. We know that there's a lot still to do and beating our competitors won't be easy, but we're definitely on the right path".

Cristian Grasso, Team Manager: “It's been very exciting to see our car take its first steps and to know that all the hard word done is starting to pay dividends. Our goal will now be to improve the set-up to make it suit the new Hankook tires. We're also working to find our second driver for the season and we hope to make an announcement soon".
