RL Racing re-opens KF3 Department

Former KF3 Euro podium-winners are back!

European Championship podium winners RL Racing Department will return to the KF3 arena in 2012, with Gaby Weyer and Josh Price.

The Ellough Park Raceway-based outfit last competed in the class in 2010 and enjoyed a successful season with Harrison Scott, with whom they claimed 3rd overall in the European finals at Genk.

Speaking from the team’s headquarters, RL Racing Department owner Steve Armstrong said: “Josh proved his ability in the KF3 category with a win in last weekend’s latest round of the Winter Series at PFi. This bodes well for his Super One campaign and we’re aiming for podiums, although Josh himself has said that his main focus will be on Junior Max and going for a top six finish in the Championship.”

He added: “Gaby has come full circle, having started her karting career with us, so it is great to welcome her back. In contrast to Josh, she will concentrate on KF3 but race in selected Junior Max events. After winning the WTP Kartmasters crown in such fine style last summer, her confidence is strong and I think she can reasonably aim for a single number by the end of the year. “

RL’s new signings will join their RL Rotax team-mates at the opening round of the Euro Challenge held at Genk in Belgium (28 March – 1 April).

As they build towards the opening tests of the national and international calendar, the team’s Rotax stars were in action last Sunday (26 February). Sam Marsh provided the highlight with a fine win in Junior ahead of Oli Norris (4th) and Josh White (5th).

“It was another one of those events where we learned a great deal and drew a lot of positives. We had to battle hard to resolve some technical gremlins surrounding Josh White’s kart but once we’d sorted them he positively flew. Oli’s brother, Lando, finished 6th in Mini, as did Lewis Plato in Senior. So we’re all there or thereabouts. Flashman Finneran is continuing on his learning journey and doing everything he can to get up the finishing order.”
