Isaac Tutumlu, a Spanish driver of Kurdish origin is taking part this year in the World Touring Car Championship driving a BMW 320 TC lined up by Proteam Racing. His aim, to achieve a good classification in the Independents´ Trophy.
Isaac Tutumlu is ready to move a step forward in his motorsport career, and after a career involved with brands such as Ferrari and mainly Porsche, where he contested during two years the Porsche Supercup, will make his debut in the World Touring Car Championship at Monza.
Monza, a well-known motorsport venue with a long tradition, is going to see Tutumlu´s first race ever in the WTCC at the wheel of Proteam Racing´s BMW 320 TC, an Italian team with a successful background in this championship. Spanish driver, who is 26 years old, explained before his arrival to Italy that “firstly I want to thank Barzani family and Kurdistan all support coming from them. Obviously I am pleased with Proteam too, for giving me the opportunity to race with them and with such an important brand like BMW. I am excited as WTCC is a championship I have been following for many years and where I always wanted to race”.
The challenge ahead is important, most of the tracks, except Monza, Valencia and Hungaroring are new to me. It is my first time racing in the series and with this car. I do not have specific expectations and this will also make the experience more challenging. I hope to help Proteam to achieve the best results possible”.
The timetable for Monza starts on Saturday with two free practice sessions, both 30 minutes long, just before qualifying session at 14.30. Both races, at 13.20 and 17.05 respectively, are scheduled on Sunday.
