Coloni get off to a good start in Barcelona

The track is different from last week, but Scuderia Coloni already showed to be in the same, excellent shape. The Italian team moved to Barcelona to take part in the second collective test of the GP2 2012 season, and exactly as they did in Jerez they managed to be among the top runners.

Stefano Coletti ended the day with a 1’29”687 that put him in fourth place, while Fabio Onidi closed the session in P13 with a 1’30”311.The technical staff gave their drivers two different work schedules, neither looking for raw performance considering that the track conditions were very different from what the teams will experience in the May race weekend on the Circuit of Catalunya. So the team opted for a technical development work, evaluating different set-up solutions and trying some long runs that again gave very good results.Paolo Coloni: “I’m really satisfied because in terms of amount of work carried out we really made the most of a strange day. This morning when the cars got on track we had 9° on the tarmac and the grip was really scarce, too low to think about laptimes. So we preferred to work on the technical development of our cars, and even doing that Stefano ended the day with a very good laptime. Anyway what we are really happy about is the pace we boasted in our long runs, now our aim is to keep working like that in the next two days”.
