The engines in all three cars were changed, ready to be officially sealed by FIA as the unitsthat should last the entire season. The engines used in today’s session will be utilized asspares. The afternoon sessions were devoted to shaking-down the cars with their newpower units and for slipstreaming tests.

Despite this being a working day, the three Cruzes topped the combined time sheet, withYvan Muller, Rob Huff and Alain Menu all within less than three tenths of a second. It wasalso an excellent day for the other Cruzes present on the track: Alex McDowell (BambooEngineering) finished 5th fastest, Rickard Rydell (Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden) a placebehind in 6th and Pasquale Di Sabatino (Bamboo Engineering) in 11th.

• QUOTESYvan Muller: “It was a long but good day of work in pleasant weather and track conditions. We did everything we had on our ‘to do’ list, and I am very pleased with what we achieved, both in terms of set-up and results.”

Rob Huff: “A fruitful day without doubt. The balance changes we tried in the morning weresuccessful, and the car reacted well to the modifications. Lap times went down progressivelyand we were faster in the afternoon – even with older tires – as the track becameprogressively faster. The surface definitely needed some rubber after the winter.”

Alain Menu: “It was a good day of work, which we finished off by doing some tests of towing, something that always plays a key role here in Monza, especially in qualifying. I was verypleased with this first day of work with my new engineer, Albert Lau, and we are now going tofocus on some changes that I still want to make on the set-up of my car.”
