Trident Racing stays on-track with positive GP3 2-day test

After the first GP3 Series test of 2012 held at the Portuguese Estoril circuit, all the championship's teams and drivers lined-up at Barcelona between Monday and Tuesday for a collective 2-day session

Trident Racing fielded the team's two confirmed drivers for 2012, Vicky Piria and Antonio Spavone. They were joined for the occasion by Kevin Ceccon. Ceccon, one of the brightest talents in Italy at just 18 years of age, is back from an intense 2011 season higlighted by his debut in the GP2 Series and in Formula 1, as he was fielded by Toro Rosso in the year-ending young driver test.

In both days, Trident Racing collected a really positive feedback that confirmed the great shape of both Spavone and Piria. Both drivers continued to adapt to their new racecars with positive resutls: by lowering their laptimes by an average of at least 5 tenths of a second, they continued to trim the gap to the championship's frontrunners. Their commitment has been remarkable, considering that they were at their first contact with an highly-international environment.

Ceccon was at his first run on a GP3 Series racecar. He adapted to it really quickly and his laptimes improved constantly. In the end he recorded the fourth fastest mark overall. It's been a pretty valuable achievement considered that he proved to have huge room for further improvement.

Preseason testing ended in a troublefree manner for Trident Racing and all the feedback expected was positively confirmed by the data. The next round of testing, the final one before the start of the 2012 season, will take place at the British Silverstone track on April the 11th and 12th.
