British Grand Prix ticket sales “off to a flying start”

- Ticket sales up 10%

- Silverstone consider increasing capacity

As the 2012 F1™ season gets underway, Silverstone has announced that ticket sales for this year’s FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX (06-08 July) have got off to a flying start. Approximately 75% of tickets have already been purchased for the UK’s premier motor sport event; up 10% on the same period last year.

Several grandstands have already sold out for this summer’s British Grand Prix, including all ‘Silver’ category grandstands and the majority of ‘Platinum’ category grandstands.

While ‘General Admission’, ‘Gold’ and a limited number of ‘Platinum’ category grandstand tickets are still available, Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, is already considering increasing capacity at one of the biggest sporting events on the UK sporting calendar.

Richard Phillips commented, “The 2012 F1 season has been one of the most eagerly anticipated in years, with six World Champions on the grid and closer racing expected throughout the field. That anticipation has been reflected by the interest in this year’s British Grand Prix – ticket sales are up 10% on this time last year and several grandstands have sold out before the season has even started.

“While there are plenty of tickets still available, we would advise fans wanting a choice of grandstands to book soon.”

Tickets for the 2012 FORMULA 1™ SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX are on sale 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visit silverstone.co.uk or call 0844 3728 300.
