GREAT CHAMPIONS TO LINE-UP FOR 2012 INCLUDING LIUZZI, FITTIPALDI, SALO.
In the great frame of Milan's Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia (one of the World's best Museums in terms of Science and Technology), SUPERSTARS officially presented its 2012 season, set to kick-off between March the 30th and April the 1st. As announced by FG GROUP President Maurizio Flammini, SUPERSTARS is ready for its grand launch and will keep-up with its claim, “The State of the Art in World Car Racing”. Many aspects will be key in 2012, from the highly-international calendar to a prestigious partnership with Hankook Tire and a sensational driver line-up. The exciting action provided by the many 500-hp, V8 racers of the series will be equally important, especially considering the wide live TV coverage plan involving 66 Countries.
The biggest surprises of today's Press Conference came from the drivers' compartment. Several of the top racers expected to be on-track in 2012 made their way to the stage. Alongside Gianni Morbidelli, who will drive the brand-new Audi RS5 and Thomas Biagi, who will be returning aboard a BMW M3, many outstanding additions were announced. Former F.1 racer Vitantonio Liuzzi will take over CAAL Racing's Mercedes C63 AMG. The Italian driver, who drove for Force India and HRT in the past few seasons, already had a first taste of SUPERSTARS in testing yesterday. Two more former F1 racers will share a Maserati Quattroporte for Swiss Team. Christian Fittipaldi, who also drove in NASCAR, IndyCar and Grand-Am, will be joined by Mika Salo. Johnny Herbert and Indonesian racer Ananda Mikola are also expected to be on-track.
«I'm persuaded that SUPERSTARS is a great choice to open yourself to other categories than F1 - said Liuzzi - and it really fits for me, considering my adaptable nature. SUPERSTARS is a really important championship that lines-up great drivers and teams. I'm sure that this season will be extremely spectacular».
The 2012 season will kick-of on April the 1st at Monza. Three spectacular rounds will be taking place in Italy at Monza, Imola and Vallelunga, while four events will be held in outer Europe at Spa-Francorchamps, Portimao, the Hungaroring and Donington. The series will then come to a sensational closure with its first Asian round, scheduled at the historical Sentul race track in Indonesia. As announced by Maurizio Flammini though, the expansion is not over: an event in the United States of America is being planned for 2013, and Brazil will probably join in 2014.While the deal had already been announced, the Press Conference also featured the signing of the contract between SUPERSTARS and Hankook Tire, with Flammini and Hankook Tire Vice-President Kim Se Heon finalizing their agreement. Both parties are looking forward to 2012. The Asian manufacturer, already supplying the DTM series, will strengthen the growth of SUPERSTARS by providing an extremely high-performance product.
