Cavan Corcoran joins JTR for 2012 Formula Ford

Scholarship Champion selects Nick Tandy’s team for EcoBoost campaign Team hopes to add a third entry for Oulton Park 23 MARCH 2012 - Reigning Formula Ford Scholarship Champion Cavan Corcoran is to join forces with the race-winning JTR team for the coming season, it is confirmed today.

The 18-year-old from Derbyshire, who has been loaned one of the Ford EcoBoost development chassis for his campaign, chose JTR to run his Mygale because he believes it will give him the best chance of winning in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain.

“JTR is a great team,” said Cavan, “and it is headed by Nick Tandy, who I believe is one of the best drivers in Britain today. I know that Nick, with all his experience of Formula Ford, will give me the best set-up car on the grid, and that will give me the edge.”

Tandy is looking forward to working with Corcoran: “We followed his progress last year, when he won the Scholarship, and were impressed. Cavan very rarely made any mistakes and was very consistent. We plan to give him all the assistance we can to help him build on what he achieved in 2011 and enjoy another great season in Formula Ford.”

Cavan will join 16-year-old Julio Moreno at JTR. The Ecuadorian is making his first step into single-seaters after racing Rotax karts for five years, enjoying good success in South America with two national titles to his name in his home country.

JTR hopes to announce a third EcoBoost contender ahead of rounds one, two and three of the 2012 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain, which take place at Oulton Park between 7 and 9 April.
