Rapax confirms Tom Dillmann & Ricardo Teixeira for the 2012 GP2 Series

The Rapax GP2 Team confirmed its driver line-up for the 2012 season with the announcement that Frenchman Tom Dillmann and the established Angolan, Ricardo Teixeira would race for the Italian squad this season. The pairing was confirmed following the recent tests in Barcelona and both drivers will take to the track for the first round of the series which commences in Kuala Lumpur at the Sepang Circuit on March 23.For Tom Dillmann, the 22 year old from Mulhouse in France, Sepang will be a natural progression in his impressive career; this emerging talent has an established pedigree in single seater racing in GP3, Formula Renault, Formula 3 Euroseries, Italian F3 and in 2010 was crowned champion of German F3 with 6 wins, 7 poles position and 10 fastest laps. After a strong performance in testing with Rapax at Jerez & Barcelona and on confirmation of his appointment, he said, “I'm delighted to sign for Rapax in GP2. It hasn't been easy, but I never gave up and worked step by step to get here. I have felt a really positive connection with Rapax from the moment I arrived and I am really looking forward to the start of the season. As it is tough to find your way to GP2, I know it will be about making a positive impact immediately, and that is my plan.”Tom’s team-mate will be the experienced 27 year old Angolan driver, Ricardo Teixeira, who spent the 2011 season in the much-vaunted position of official test driver for the Lotus F1 Team. Ricardo raced a full season of GP2 in 2009, and will bring his experience to bear with the 2010 season Championship winners. He said, "I would like to say thank you to the team for the opportunity to test in Barcelona. Rapax is extremely professional and I think we can achieve good things together this season. I am confident we will have a good season together, which will allow me to represent Angola worldwide."The Italian team’s owner representative, Gianfranco Sovernigo, said, “We are very pleased to have secured two very capable drivers. During our testing, Tom Dillmann impressed us both with his motivation and professionalism, as well as possessing the inherent speed we are sure will make an impact on the 2012 season. Ricardo brings the emerging passion for motor racing that is developing in Angola and he is a great ambassador for his country as well as an ambitious driver.”
