Scholarship Winner Daniel Lloyd Aiming To Make Most Of Prize

Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar Daniel Lloyd has mere days to wait until his dream of racing in the UK's most prestigious one-make sportscar championship comes true with the first event of the 2012 season taking place this weekend, 31st March/1st April, at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent.Huddersfield 20-year-old Daniel, who is backed by TNT Post, TSD, Creechurch Private Wealth, Propack and TPA Yorkshire, earned his place on the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship grid by winning one of the biggest prizes in British motorsport - an £80,000 bursary from Porsche.Since being awarded the scholarship at the tail-end of last year after an intensive try-out, the Yorkshire Patron has enjoyed a fantastically successful pre-season. This was capped off during officially timed testing a couple of weeks ago when he posted the fourth fastest lap overall, a mere 0.2 seconds shy of the outright pace, to end the day by far the quickest category rookie. All signs are extremely positive for Daniel ahead of his race debut in Porsche Carrera Cup GB with front-running squad Team Parker Racing. Despite having raced front-wheel drive cars for the past few seasons, the switch to his 450bhp rear-wheel drive Porsche 911 GT3 has posed no problems at all."I'm really looking forward to Brands Hatch", said Lloyd, "The first round's finally here and, if anything, my expectations have risen with testing having gone so well. We're not getting carried away though, it's going to be a tough challenge but we're confident our preparations have gone as well as possible."More than anything I want solid performances at the weekend, I don't want to do anything daft. It's important to get the first couple of races safely under my belt and then build from there as it's a long championship. I'm so grateful to Porsche GB and all of my fantastic sponsors for making this happen, I intend to make the most of such an amazing opportunity - it's going to be mega!"Away from competitive action, Daniel's role as Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar also meant he played an integral part in the annual Press Day for the hugely popular Goodwood Festival of Speed recently when tasked with providing passenger rides up Goodwood Hill in his race-prepared Porsche. In addition to that, the 2012 season will be one in which he continues his noteworthy charitable work by racing in support of the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice. As part of this, Daniel will be running in the Leeds Half Marathon on Sunday, 13th May.All attention for the time being, though, will be on this weekend's opening two rounds of the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship which will run as part of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship support package.Following pre-event testing on Friday, 30th March - which will mark only Daniel's third visit to Brands Hatch in his Porsche (one of those having been snowbound!) - qualifying and the first race of the weekend will take place on Saturday, 31st March, at 11.20 and 16.05 respectively. On Sunday, 1st April, round two will take place at 13.25 and will be screened live on Freeview, digital satellite and cable channel ITV4 and also on ITV4 HD. There will also be live online streaming of the race at
