Successful start to season at ADAC Masters Weekend

Oschersleben - The ADAC Masters Weekend, now in its fourth season, got off to a brilliant start this weekend at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. A total of 12,900 spectators watched the 13 races over the three days of the ADAC GT Masters and also enjoyed the supporting programme - the Formel ADAC, ADAC PROCAR, the MINI TROPHY and the HAIGO ADAC Historic Cup. Victories at the opening races for Lunardi/Martin and Engelhart/Tandy Four different manufacturers on the podium in the first two races of the season at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben

The 2012 League of Super Sports Cars got off to a fine start this season by producing two thrilling races with breathtaking finals at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Dino Lunardi and Maxime Martin secured the opening win in the first race at Oschersleben for their BMW ALPINA after a canny choice of tyre in poor weather conditions. Christian Engelhart in a Porsche 911 and Sebastian Asch in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG had a thrilling scrap for victory during the second race. Engelhart finally edged in front to claim a win for himself and team-mate Nick Tandy. A McLaren MP4-12C, Chevrolet Camaro and a Nissan GT-R lined up at the start for the first time ever in the ADAC GT Masters. In all, more than 40 super sports cars from 13 different constructors are contesting the ADAC GT Masters this season. Three different winners from three different countries in opening weekend Award ceremony for juniors with ex-Formula 1 driver and DTM star Ralf Schumacher

The first race weekend of the 2012 Formel ADAC season could not have turned out any better. Three drivers from three different nationalities finished on the podium, namely Marvin Kirchhöfer, Thomas Jäger and Kuba Dalewski. A total of eight different drivers secured the nine podium places available as only Dalewski came home twice in the top three. Former Formula 1 driver and DTM star Ralf Schumacher was on hand to present the three winners of the first race at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben with their trophies. Two wins for Jens Weimann in the ADAC PROCAR series opener Thierfelder leads the way in Division 2

During the first weekend of the ADAC PROCAR series, the focus was on the Division 2 drivers. A total of seven rookies joined the field alongside the two experienced drivers Guido Thierfelder and Ralf Glatzel. Thierfelder took the upper hand and set the bar high with two victories. In Division 1, last year's runner up Jens Weimann had an ideal start to the season with two victories. MINI TROPHY

Jürgen Schmarl and Steffi Halm win in season opener Cora Schumacher with two Top Ten finishes

The MINI TROPHY, the successor to the MINI Challenge, started its first season this weekend at the ADAC Masters Weekend. The same three drivers were on the podium in both races, but in a different order both times. In the first race, Jürgen Schmarl took the victory ahead of Ralf Martin and Steffi Halm, while Halm was successful in the second race ahead of Schmarl and Martin. Historical flair to the ADAC Masters Weekend

The sounds of historical single seaters and touring cars have become a fixture of the ADAC Masters Weekend at the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena. At the opening weekend of 2012, the crowd were captivated by race cars from the former East Germany as well as other Eastern countries with a variety of races and a good dose of nostalgia. The two races in the touring car class were won by Rocco Berger, while the single seater races were won by Thomas Hoffman and Nils-Holger Wilms. ADAC Masters Weekend on TV

The ADAC Masters Weekend Magazin featuring highlights from the ADAC Masters Weekend is to be broadcast by German commercial TV channel kabel eins this season. Billed as 'ran racing ADAC Masters Weekend Magazin', the first review of the season showing action from Motorsport Arena Oschersleben goes out on 2nd April at 2.20am with a repeat broadcast on 4th April at 1.00am. Spectacular TV footage from the ADAC Masters Weekend SPORT1 will be broadcast by TV station SPORT1. The popular ADAC Masters Weekend Magazin featuring highlights from the season opener at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben goes out on 7th April at 9.45am.
