Max Pigoli ready to defend his Superstars championship lead at Imola

AFTER SCORING ONE WIN AND A PODIUM FINISH AT MONZA, THE JAGUAR RACER LOOKS FORWARD TO IMOLA

The seventh season of Max Pigoli in the SUPERSTARS SERIES has already proved great and the FG GROUP-promoted championship took-off in style at Monza, close to his hometown, Como. In front of 31.000 people, he cruised to win in Race 1 aboard a Jaguar XFR, followed by rookie Andrea Larini. The Team Romeo Ferraris man topped CAAL Racing's Vitantonio Liuzzi, who rebounded to a sensational Race 2 win in front of Pigoli himself.

The season has been off to a spectacular start for him. After winning the 2006 title with Team Ferlito and Jaguar, his comeback proved sensational, as he brought the British brand back to win and he's now eager to repeat soon.

“We couldn't have asked for more at Monza - told the Como-based racer - but the season is long and we're all curious to see how things will go in the next round at Imola. We worked on the set-up which is key at Santerno and might well make the difference on Race Day. There's no doubt: we won't rest on our laurels”.

The last time SUPERSTARS hit the racetrack close to Bologna, in 2010, Pigoli cruised to win in Race 2 on a Mercedes, while he had captured one win and one second place finish in 2009.

“I'm expecting good things from BMW and the new Audi, which went fast since the beginning. We must not forget Mercedes: they are strong everywhere. The 2012 season will be a very spectacular one”. Pigoli is facing a new challenge, part of the great history of Jaguar in SUPERSTARS. In 2006, he made his way to title for the British manufacturer before joining Mercedes. With a C63 AMG, he ended up twice as a runner-up in the Italian Championship in 2010 and 2011 and also hit 2nd and 3rd place in the INTERNATIONAL SERIES. For this season, his sights will be set on title again”.

Round 2 will be taking place on April 21 and 22 as he already looks forward to being one of the main characters again.
