Andrew Jordan says that he can’t wait to get to Donington Park next weekend (14/15 April) to continue his challenge with Pirtek Racing in the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
After a superb opening weekend at Brands Hatch (31 March/1 April) when he scored two seconds and a sixth place in his Honda Civic, Andrew is determined to go even better and climb onto the top step of the podium at his home track. Andrew heads to the East Midlands circuit lying third in the overall points, only headed by the big two names in the BTCC: Jason Plato and Matt Neal.
“Donington is my home track and I had a very good weekend there last year,” said Andrew. “It’s a very strong track for us and I’m going there with the aim of getting a win. We had a great weekend at Brands and I want to build on that at Donington.”
Andrew thinks that the Pirtek Honda will be a strong contender at the Leicestershire track. “We’ve still got a little bit to go to get the set-up perfect, but the Honda should suit Donington’s fast, flowing corners. I really enjoyed Brands and now I’m looking forward to Donington. In fact, I wish we were racing over the Easter weekend as I can’t wait to get back in the car!”
Brands Hatch was also a great weekend for Jeff Smith in the other Pirtek Racing entry and he currently lies sixth on the overall standings. After three of the season’s 30 races, Pirtek Racing leads both the HiQ Team Championship and the Independents’ Team Trophy and Andrew is top of the Independents’ Trophy with Jeff in fourth.
After qualifying on Saturday 14 April at 15.25, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.35 on Sunday, with race two at 14.10 and race three at 17.15. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4 in a programme starting at 11.00. Qualifying will be broadcast live at itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at tsl-timing.com
