Regalia 6th in European F3 Open Race 1 in Portugal

Facu Regalia finished 6th,, driving a new Dallara F312 lined up by Campos Racing, when he made his debut in the European F3 Open. After a fantastic second place in qualifying, Regalia could not clinch a podium finish.

Regalia had mixedfeelings during his debut in the European F3 Open, a second championship in addition to Auto GP which he is contesting with Campos Racing.

After a great qualifying session, with Regalia setting second fastest lap behind Juan Carlos Sistos – more experienced in this championship, the Argentina´s driver was very pleased. He explained that “my lap was almost perfect and I thought the pole position was possible. In the end I was beaten by Sistos. Anyway I feel happy and am now thinking ahead to  race one”.

However his debut race wasn´t so positive in the afternoon. “I made a bad start and, despite keeping second place for a while, Gianmarco Raimondo overtook me later. He was a bit aggressive at the start”,

“I was having a good race pace and my aim was to overtake Raimondo. However, when I made an attempt, he gave me no room, I had to slow down and Mans Grenhagen overtook me. From then on my race didn´t improve, because both safety car periods weren´t a help for me and we chose a different set-up and our top-speed wasn´t as higher as my rivals´.

At the end, Regalia was 6th, a result “not good after my second place in qualifying session. Now my thinking is focused on race 2, we have a competitive car in qualifying and it is going to be mandatory to show it in race too”.
