Irwin Teams Up With CN Racing for Supersport Cup

Talented Ulsterman Glenn Irwin will once again team up with Hebden Bridge-based CN Racing for the remainder of the season as he looks to continue his excellent start to 2012.

The former Irish Supersport champion leads this season's Motorpoint British Supersport Cup title race following a victory at Brands Hatch over Easter and two podium placings at Thruxton last time out and he hopes to continue that good form at Oulton Park this forthcoming weekend.

The deal will see Irwin continuing to campaign his team's Yamaha R6 with backing from existing sponsors MET Healthcare and Megastore 247, but he will have the resources of the CN Racing Team at his disposal.

Irwin raced successfully for CN Racing in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship towards the end of last season, taking two victories and two podiums in the final four rounds to end up as runner-up in the series.

Irwin will join the team's existing Metzeler National Superstock 1000 riders Josh Day and Gavin Hunt and hopefully returning from injury soon will be Metzeler National Superstock 600 rider Andy Reid.

Glenn Irwin: "Driving to the CN Racing workshop today felt just like coming home and I'm delighted to be back with them as we proved last year we were a formidable force. We have had a brilliant two rounds so far and it is important that we continue at Oulton Park and as well as Chris and Julia at CN Racing, I'd like to say thanks to my existing sponsors, MET Healthcare and Megastore 247 who are still very much part of the team."

Dwayne McCracken, Crew Chief: "After our successful association last year, we are very pleased to be working with Glenn again this year and we hope to build on his great start to the season. We are in a position to help him and he feels we can extract the best from him so we are looking forward to continuing our successful relationship."

Julia Taylor, Team Principal: "It's brilliant to have Glenn back with us as he's like part of the family and if we are being truthful, we didn't want to lose him at the end of last year. I'm sure the combination of CN Racing, Glenn and his existing sponsors will be a force to be reckoned with for the rest of the season."
