Vancraft Triumph Round 3 Oulton Park Review

 Motorpoint British Supersport

Jimmy Hill and Josh Caygill had a steady weekend at round three of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park this Bank Holiday weekend. At the tight and twisty track the Vancraft Triumph riders made progress throughout the weekend with the Triumphs and Jimmy and Josh secured a 12th and 23rd in the first Supersport race and 12th and 21st in race two.

Josh and Jimmy struggled to get a good set up on the technical circuit with the Triumphs and despite several changes throughout the weekend the pair were unable to get a set up to suit them. Jimmy set some good times throughout the weekend and he managed to qualify in 12th place and kept his position in both races despite some very close racing. Josh qualified in 26th place and made progress in both races and bettered his position but is still looking to get some valuable Championship points.

Jimmy Hill - "I'm a bit disappointed this weekend because I know I am capable of riding nearer the front of the pack and I'm not doing so it's getting me down. I want to be able to get further forward and every time I push a bit harder my arms pump up and I struggle to hold on, I know at some point I'm going to have to get the operation done to get that sorted out. I've always been good at Oulton in the past and I really wanted to get myself a good race result and move the season forward but I wanted it to be higher than 12th, the Vancraft team worked really hard all weekend and I just want to repay them all with a decent result."

Josh Caygill - "I'm just a little frustrated at the moment and even though I made some big steps forward in race two and set some of my best times of the weekend I still want to be higher up the final results. I had a few issues getting a good feeling from the Triumph here at Oulton this weekend and I know it's a technical track but we did make some progress for race two and hope things can keep moving forward at Snetterton."

Metzeler Superstock 600s

Joe Collier racing for the Vancraft Triumph team in the Superstock 600 Championship had a great weekend during practice and qualifying and was looking set for the team's best result of the year but sadly it was not to be. After qualifying on his first ever Stock 600 front row in second place the youngster made a mistake on the second lap before crashing out at Druids on lap two.

Joe Collier - "I was made up with how my weekend went and how hard the Vancraft team worked all weekend to make everything possible for me. That was only my second time riding at Oulton Park and everything just went well from day one and I managed to qualify in second place. However, I may have got myself a little bit nervous as I think I might have burnt the clutch out on the start and therefore the clutch was slipping into every corner, I was managing at every other corner but it all went wrong at Druids and down I went. I must say a special thanks to my sponsors Simon and Steven Preistnal at Autoworld Group for making it possible for me to be here, I'm just sorry I couldn't turn my good qualifying into a good result for them but I'm feeling more confident on the bike now so hopefully it will come."
